Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I am Catholic and believe in the sanctity of life. I also believe that life begins at conception. However, I also believe that a woman has the right to choose and we need to respect and honor that right.
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
We should stop calling Social Security and Medicare as entitlement programs. They are necessary to providing a safety net for our citizens. We have a social contract with our government. We pay taxes during our income producing years, and in turn, the government has the responsibility to provide us with income and health security,
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
The only way we can ensure that elections are free and fair is to remove the insidious influence of money. I support publicly funded elections and elimination of PACs.
No Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
We need transparency and accountability at all levels of government. Nobody should be protected from liability when they abuse the office that they've been elected or appointed to.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
And I quote Pres. Eisenhower, "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
We need to do everything we can and use every tool we have to fight climate change. That includes regulating greenhouse gas emissions.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Yes Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
We need to replace the Affordable Care Act with Medicare for All.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
We need a humane immigration program that will allow people who want to be productive citizens of this country a pathway towards it.
No Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
The United States is already spending more money on its military than the next 7 countries combined. It is unconscionable the we are not spending on domestic infrastructure and other programs that will materially uplift the economic wellbeing of our people. We need to re-prioritize the people's welfare and interests over those of the military and weapons industrial complex.
No Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
1. Medicare for All 2. Universal Basic Income 3. Free Public College and Trade Schools and Cancellation of Student Debt
